Redefining the Growing Season

Season extension is another major benefit of climate controlled, solar thermal high tunnels.  They allow growers to meet consumer demand for local fruits and vegetables on either end of the production curve when competition is lower and prices are higher.  After a winter of shipped-in produce, customers are eager for that first truly vine-ripened tomato, tangy cucumber, or crisp sweet bell pepper. As a result, growers able to provide the earliest locally grown produce receive a premium price.
